Though I’ve always been a literature person, and hold an MA in literature, teaching writing for years sparked my interest in composition and rhetoric. The diversity of my classrooms, across a variety of institutions, inspired me to study social class distinction and how different experiences and environments influence rhetorical choices—particularly considering the concepts of narrative theory and phenomenology. Furthermore, I wish to examine these concepts beyond the classroom—how life experiences affect writing, and how writing affects life experiences.
