Kate Eickmeyer is a PhD candidate in English. She has a BA from Vassar College and a JD from Harvard Law School, and has returned to academia after time spent working as a corporate and entertainment attorney and in animal rights nonprofits. Her primary interest is romanticism, particularly transatlantic romanticism and the influences and legacy of the romantic era, with emphases on affect and aesthetics. She has a growing interest in ecocriticism and animal studies as well as utopian and speculative work, and considers herself a “romancist” as well as a romanticist. Issues of pedagogy and praxis, and intersections of law and literature, are also research interests.
