I’m interested in contemporary American literature and culture, political economy, theories of the novel, and science fiction.
My current work tries to conceptualize financial capitalism as a cultural logic, an historically specific mode of experiencing and interpreting the present. I’m looking primarily at contemporary novels, including science fiction novels, in an attempt to analyze how finance is narrated, and how it both shapes and distorts generic conventions.
I teach at John Jay College and work at the Columbia University Writing Center.
I received my BA from Portland State University and my MA from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
